This 1 Obvious Change Could Make The Texas Rangers Better Right Now

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

It can be difficult to admit failure. No one would be shocked if the Texas Rangers finally realized Kole Calhoun just isn’t viable any longer as a starting outfielder in the major leagues.

Calhoun, signed to a one-year, $5 million contract during the off-season, isn’t providing any value to the Rangers right now. In fact, he’s providing negative value, at -0.3 bWAR, from his post in right field. A player who used to routinely beat up on Texas, the 34-year-old just isn’t that player anymore.

Check them out to day. Today's first topic, as always, who's hot, WHO's not? Well, the Texas Rangers were leaf bullpens at it again this week, blowing games like the only good thing that has happened is that it don't. SCARCIA is the Astros Kryptonite and help get some runs on the board against them. The Rangers took out took two out of three games are going against athletics has past weekend. They returned home to start the silver BOOT series against Houston Astros is past week and lost three of the four.

They have to figure something out quickly to get back into the divisional race after this week. Now let's dive into WHO's hot WHO's not. A Las Garcia is hot. Karcy is officially considered a pain in the rear for the WHO Houston Astros. A DALLA SCARCIA had five rb eyes, six hits and a home run in the past week. Also seems that he's getting more patient at the plate, looking for pitches to hit in his zone. This is something to keep an eye on is the season moves along. Jonah Him Wellheim didn't have the best of weeks as he struck out three times at the plate. He and his wife are expecting soon. It was announced yesterday that you'd be going onto the praternity league list and Sam Huff take his spot on the roster until he gets back. His wife had the baby this morning, as it was announced. That looks Lake Lee him was born at seven hundred and fifty eight am ordered to Texas Rangers sports illustrated beat reporter. Congrats the him...

...family and we'll see him when he gets back later this season. Martin Perez, Perez is gone more than six innings and it starts this week. Thirteen innings. He gave up wondering Grun it struck out nine hit batters. It just thinks that the relief pitchers messed up. Is Outing Against Asher's early Thursday afternoon. It's one of my players that has surprised me so far on this rangers roster. And now on to WHO's not hot. Pretty much the relief fullpen. This pretty much is for the pitchers that come after the starters. Please don't give the game away late in the game to the opponent. It's why the Rangers can't get a winning street going, one of the many reasons that fans have not shown up at the ballpark this season. And Jack Lighter, please don't shoot a messenger lighter. It's officially human get a bad outing against the Northwest Arkansas naturals this past weekend in Frisco. While some of his...

...issues had to do with an inconsistent struy strikes out from the himpire, he did give up four runs and two winnings. That's why he's on the WHO's not hot list this week. And in other news, the Rangers are beginning in a way series against the Phillies, which is definitely going to be a tough matchup. Now on to our next topic, our on two thousand and twenty two week three recap, and now on two or Rangers update for week three. Rangers did not fare well in the first series of the week against the Astros, taking the first game of the series sexist and went into a four game slide, dropping the final three games the Houston series and the first of the series against the reigning world series champion Atlanta Braves. Although they had...

...a losing week, the Rangers had a few really strong picture outings, notably Martin Purrez, was perfect through sixs and the final game against the astrips. The perfect game was broken up on the seventh inning, though, when ashws got two hits in a run. He struck out for in the game. Bres now has a three point Ura and the season. Friday's game became a bullpen games. Was Not example of stellar pitching. However, Saturday evenings game was. The Rangers won the weekend series against the braves, and large part due to dame dunning's outing, going seven point two innings. Struck out seven, gave up just one run, up four hits. Notably, SAM huff caught that game after being called up. Jonaheim went on Turnato, you leave Texas went on to win Sunday's game as well. Tailor her went five innings and gave up two runs, up four hits and three walks. Both runs came in the top of the third. After Sunday this game, the Rangers...

...made a few roster moves before the deadline to get the team down to twenty. Six men came up. They sent both same huff and Willie Calhoun down to around rock, which will discuss later on, and of course Willie was done too. pleased. I had high hopes this would be the season trouck for Calhoun. He's had a lot of bad luck injuries, but early this season he's had a lot of bad luck hitting too. And now on for our one league update. Winston Santos on Sunday through a strong five point two innings for down east, allow no runs on four hits and a walk, while striking out five. Teodoro or tag followed in with two runs allowed at one point two and he's pitched with three K's and two walks. Destin Dotson Lot a pair of runs out to home runs, striking out for Michael Brewer allowed a pair of runs, one of which was the Zombie runner, and one inning, striking out one. It's the first runs allowed this season for...

...both dots and and brewer. Tucker Mitchell had a hit in two walks. Maximo a Costa had a double on a homer. Daniel Matteo had a hit. Tk Ruby allowed six runs and four innings of work for Hickory, walking for and striking out for. Mark Church gave up pair of Solo home runs in an inning of work, striking out to precise a homer. Thomas segeese had a pair of hits. Trevor, however, Angela Ponte walk and single. Evan Carter and Keybra Rodriguez each had hits. Cole Reagan started for Frisco, went five point one innings pitched, allowing three runs on eight hits, including a home run, and to walk, striking out five. Chase Lee struck out two and a scoreless inning for interview of Zuno. Allowed two runs and an inning. Lane cream was two forty three with a homer. Dustin Harris had a single in a double. Justin Foscue, you had two walks in a double. David Garcia had a hit. Cole win was back on...

...the mound for round rock after leaving his previous start after taking a line drive off his foot. Win In hand command issues, walking six batters in five innings while allowing two hits and four runs when struck out to Josh as bores three. One point two winnings, allowing no runs on one hit and one walk, stranging out one. Nicks niner walk to and allowed a hit and plight. One innings pitched but didn't allow any runs. That way we can give a full recap of the week's news. And now on to our next top A. Calhoun and huff have been optioned. That AAA.

The Texas Rangers optioned outfielder Willie Calhoun and can't Er Sam Huff to AAA around rock after today's game. Active Rosters were expanded to twenty eight from opening day through may first due to the shortness spring training this year, thanks lock out, to the moves ready to get the Rangers down to twenty six on the active roster, off have been called up to fill in. While Joahim was opportunity list on returned to action, but COLBE Allen was sent down instead of Huff, so you can interpret this as Allen being one of the two players who was dropped to get the roster to twenty six. The decision to option Calhoun loomed as a possibility after the rangers opted to promote outfielders Zach Rex when Spencer Howard was sent down on Friday. Calhoun is now put up good numbers, although he does have more walks and strikeouts and hender and praise for doing this, doing the right things. At the start of the season, manager Chris Woodward mentioned, however, increase in pot pulled ground balls of a...

...lake from Calhoun was an issue when he did. When we did the year in review for Calhoun, we noted that he was among the league leaders exit velocity for ground balls but at the bottom of the League and exit velocity and fly balls. Doing a better job elevating balls. He makes good contact. It was an assist, a necessity for Calhoun. At twenty two, two thousand and twenty two something, he was apparently not doing a good enough job. As of a lake, the Rangers will be activating John Grady and the next few days. The Rangers are currently at Thirteen pitchers, with MLB allowing a maximum of fourteen pitchers per team through May. Thirty REX or another position player could end up going down with great returns. For now, though, rex as part of the teams, I feel dh mix. And onto our final topic, the one change that could make the rangers better. It can...

...be difficult to admit failure. No one would be shocked if the Rangers finally realize whole Calhoun just isn't viable any longer as a starting out fielder and major leagues. Calhoun signed a one year, five million dollar contractor in the offseason. He isn't providing any value the rangers right now. In fact, he's providing negative value at point three B war from his post in right field, a player who used to routinely beat up on Texas. The thirty four year old just isn't that player anymore. The good news yelloon's replacements already in the organization is a name Theodi to Varis. If the Texas Rangers are serious about winning more games this season, particularly after their sluggish start, this move feels like obvious one to make. Absorb the five million od to Calhoun and promote to Varis from AAA. There's nothing left for sebarest to prove in the minors, just as there's nothing left for Calhoun to contribute to the big league. Rangers are in some unexpected hot streak, but don't hold your breath. The...

...former is slashing a cool three hundred and ninety four four twelve one hundred seventy nine with the express. In addition to his typically stillar defense in the outfield. It finally seems to be coming together for to Varis, once a highly touted rangers prospect. He was solid in its first big league stent in two thousand and twenty before regressing badly last season. With a number chance in two thousand and twenty. Two to various could deliver on the promise that had Texas excited about the center fielder of the future, or the very least, can't be much worse than Calohoo, who will say again it's providing below average big league production when he's write. The Youth Will Taberus and just twenty three years of age, can provide a dynamic presence on the field for the Texas Rangers. Speed, pop defense. He's got the makings of a Byron Buckston light type of player. A while that might be lofty praise to Varius is capable of reaching that ceiling, one that is infinitely higher than any ceiling coal can...
